In the aftermath of the devastation wrought on Dominica by Tropical Storm Erika, the FairFax County School Age Child Care (SACC) Program under the commendable leadership of Mrs.Beverly Moore has donated a quantity of school supplies, toiletries and canned foods to Dominica through the management of the Rebuild Dominica Inc. organization based in Bowie, Maryland.
SACC provides fun, safe and educational care for children in kindergarten – sixth grade before school, after school and during school vacations in most Fairfax County elementary schools.
The management and members of Rebuild Dominica Inc. wish to thank the organizers and the many contributors to the SACC initiative for collecting and sorting the several items, packing and storing appropriately and delivering to the Rebuild Dominica pickup team on Wednesday October 21, 2015.
Special mention must be made of the significant contribution made by Caribbean Cargo DC for providing the means of pick up transportation and subsequent storage at their facility prior to shipment and distribution to Dominica at their earliest opportunity. It is anticipated that the items will be received and equitably distributed by the on-island Rebuild Dominica team.

A meeting of the Executive members of Rebuild Dominica Inc was convened on October 6, 2015 at the office of Gabriel J. Christian & Associates.
Further to the discussions held including confirmation of the minutes of September 2, 2015, ratification of a Code of Ethics, Bi-Laws, and a Records Retention Policy, a revised Board of Directors was appointed to oversee the affairs of the organization listed as follows:

The management of REBUILD DOMINICA INC. is pleased to announce the first shipment of relief supplies to Dominica. Thanks to the collaboration and generosity of the management of Caribbean Cargo DC, (CCDC) spearheaded by fellow Dominican Ms. Barbara Eloi, twenty three (23) barrels, two (2) Crib/Mattresses, and one (1) small crate filed with an assortment of clothing, food, shoes, and other miscellaneous items were shipped from their warehouse on September 30, 2015. (See Fundraiser post of September 20, below). The Rebuild Dominica consignment occupied approximately 1/3rd of the space in a 40ft container estimated to arrive in Dominica on October 27th. 2015. CCDC gave a significant contribution towards the overall cost of the shipment.
On arrival, the in-country Rebuild Dominica Inc. team lead by Dr. Sam Christian will join forces with the Dominica Lions Club, the Dominic Cadet Corps and other Govt. agencies where necessary to manage the distribution of the supplies.
We wish to thank most profusely, all persons and agencies who contributed to the success of this first stage of the operations. Every effort will be made to monitor the anticipated successful outcome in Dominica.
