Caribbean Professional Network (CPN) provided a spotlight on The Commonwealth of Dominica this past Sunday (September 27, 2015) during “Zouk in The Park.” The fundraising event was held at Mount Rainier Nature/Recreation Center in Prince George’s County, MD.
The Honorable Ambassador Hubert Charles of Dominica addressed the crowd and provided an update regarding disaster relief underway; post-Tropical Storm Erika. Also in attendance was Chairman, Gabriel Christian, and Rebuild Dominica Committee members Michael Floissac and Maj. Francis Richards. Additional volunteers were Ta’Tyani Young, dressed in Dominica’s National Wear (wob dwiyet) and her mother LaDàna Drigo, who is also a member of the Rebuild Dominica Media Relations team. By way of donated items from CPN and SPAGnVOLA, a raffle was held to continue fundraising efforts to benefit the people of The Commonwealth of Dominica.
Items raffled included SPAGnVOLA Chocolatier’s “Chocolat de la Dominique,” Dominica’s premium 70% dark chocolate, books from authors from The Commonwealth of Dominica, and tickets to enjoy a feature concert performance by Jacob Desvareaux (from the Caribbean band: Kassav’) with Charlotte DiPanda on November 28th in Takoma Park, MD.
Congratulations to the winners of the items raffled during Zouk in the Park! Rebuild Dominica, Inc. is grateful for the outpouring support during Dominica’s time of need. Donations continue to pour in online and via mail and the journey to rebuilding Dominica has begun. Stay tuned for more updates regarding disaster-relief efforts for The Commonwealth of Dominica!
