PRESS RELEASE: INAUGURAL NATURE ISLAND FUTURES CONFERENCE

by Irving “Eipigh” Pascal

 For Immediate Release:

INAUGURAL NATURE ISLAND FUTURES CONFERENCE: An Independence 2018 Activity

THE FUTURE OF THE NATURE ISLAND CONFERENCE: WHEN SEWO ALONE IS NOT ENOUGH

Roseau, Dominica (October 29, 2018) — Reunions provide people with an opportunity to make new strides from consolidated gains. As the people of Dominica reflect on the past 40 years, from 1978 to 2018, it is clear that we have achieved much. There has been growth in music and other cultural arts, sports and agriculture; generally, the Nature Island citizens have achieved and excelled. Amidst the celebration of the food, music and Creole culture, ‘WE’ presents another dimension – Dominica – 40 Years After, through the ‘Future of the Nature Isle Conference.’

WE’ signifies the unity of purpose behind the initiative. The conference is convened as a collaborative effort and will be held at the Public Service Union Conference Center on Wednesday October 31, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. under the theme: ‘The Big Idea: Nature Island of the World in word and DEED.’

This inaugural ‘Future of the Nature Isle Conference’ will add value to the 2018 reunion activities. ‘WE’ believes that the emphasis on ‘sewo’ during the 2018 reunion celebrations and the absence of intellectual balance/content create a void that the conference will fill. The ‘Big Idea’ of the conference is to reinforce Dominica’s position as the Nature Island of the World.

Dr. Irving ‘Eipigh’ Pascal leads the initiative and is seeking to promote an intellectual assessment of the Nature Island brand. “The Future of the Nature Island Conference provides balance to an otherwise sewo-heavy Independence program. One of the myths of independence is that once it is obtained it becomes a fait accompli – we have nothing more to do as we are the masters of our own destiny in a globalist world.

“This is a non-partisan call for the people of the Dominica at home and abroad to engage in a discussion on where we were in 1978, where we are in 2018 and where we should be in 2058. Come ye forward son and daughters. Sound the call!” Dr. Pascal stated.

Another presenter at the conference is Albert “BO” Bannis who will deliberate on the topic: ‘Techno-politics of the Nature Isle of the World.’ There will also be group sessions on agriculture in the Nature Isle of the World, Tourism in the Nature Island of the World, Education in the Nature Island of the World, Migration-Implications for the Nature Island of the World, Political Governance in the Nature Island of the World, Healthcare in the Nature Island of the World and Formulae for a Return to Isle of Beauty, Isle of splendor/Cleaning the Nature Isle.

PRESS RELEASE: Pointe Mitchel Celebrates Opening of New Rebuild Dominica Clinic

by Dermer Christmas

Pointe Mitchel, Dominica (June 19, 2018) – The grand opening of the Pointe Mitchel private doctor’s office took place on June 14, 2018 at 4:30 pm and represents fulfillment of the hopes and dreams of area residents since Hurricane Maria. This Rebuild Dominica Inc project is available to any local or visiting health professional wanting to practice their calling closer to the grassroots level.

The private doctor’s office works hand-in-hand with the local health center; performing services like draining of abscesses or stitching of large cuts. Such services often require a trip to the Roseau Health Center or Accident & Emergency. Additionally, home visits and after-hour basic medications will be available to area villages.

Rebuild Dominica Inc’s Director of Medical Operations, Dr. Sam Christian, shared that the office will be staffed full-time on Tuesdays and Thursdays and by appointment on weekends and weekdays between 5 and 7 pm.

Already, patients from the Roseau area who really need to be seen same day, are making the short trip to Pointe Mitchel. Especially when waiting times extend into hours elsewhere. A presentation was made during the opening which featured Pointe Mitchel native, Dr. Dale Dangleben, Dominica’s top trauma surgeon practicing in the United States.

A blessing of the office and formal handing over of keys took place at Joan Frampton’s Residence on the flat across from Bolo’s Bar.

Please call 767-265-0886 to make an appointment today!

Infinity Wealth Management & Air Canada Pilot Support Rebuild Dominica Inc

Mel Tewahade, Demetrius Apokremiotis, & Other Supporters To Be Featured During Press Conference Announcing Delivery of Medical Supplies Valued at $400,000 USD

Washington, D.C. (April 2, 2018) – Rebuild Dominica Inc (RebuildDominica.org) will host a press conference on Friday, April 27, 2018 at the Dominica Festival Committee Office in Roseau, Dominica.
The press conference will feature Mel Tewahade — CEO of InfinityWealth.net. Tewahade is an Ethiopian-American businessman who also serves as the Financial Advisor to the Ethiopian Crown Council (EthiopianCrown.org). He will be joined by Air Canada Pilot, Demetrius Apokremiotis.
Both Tewahade and Apokremiotis were instrumental in rushing medical supplies and aid to Dominica after Hurricane Maria. Apokremiotis, a Greek-Ethiopian resident based in Canada, has been an ally and friend to Dominica since 1979. Just days after Hurricane David devastated Dominica, a younger Apokremiotis packed his bags, gathered chain saws, and led a mission trip to render aid to Dominica with a group of humanitarian-inclined Canadians. Apokremiotis remained and lived in Dominica for a year after Hurricane David to help rebuild houses and provide additional support where needed.
In a September 2017 letter to Gabriel J. Christian, President of Rebuild Dominica Inc, Tewahade offered condolences to The Commonwealth of Dominica for the lives lost during Hurricane Maria. On Tuesday, September 19, 2017, he requested assistance from personal friend, Dr. Douglas Jackson — CEO of Project C.U.R.E. (ProjectCure.org).
This correspondence resulted in a donation of non-electrical medical equipment and medical supplies valued at $400,000 USD being approved by Project C.U.R.E. for shipment to Dominica. Included were donations of chainsaws valued at $10,000 USD, nails and tarps which were made by Tewahade and Dominican-native, Dr. Roy Mondesire — medical expert on infectious diseases and Chief Scientific Officer at RoMonics.com. A gift of 700 children toys made by ToysForGodsKids.org was also included.
In December 25th 2017, the emergency container arrived in Dominica with shipping fees underwritten by Infinity Wealth Management and the Law Firm of Gabriel Christian (MarylandAttorneyAtLaw.com). Dominica was crippled by Hurricane Maria and continues to work tirelessly with neighbors near and far to recover from the massive setbacks to the island’s infrastructure. Dominica is on track with hurricane reconstruction efforts through the leadership of NGOs like Rebuild Dominica Inc.
Compassionate members of the Caribbean diaspora who have been avid sponsors of Rebuild Dominica Inc since its inception in 2015 include Guyanese-born Royston DeSouza and his business partner, Ansel Hall, of Trinidad and Tobago — the pair are co-owners of CaribbeanCargoDC.com. Rebuild Dominica Inc is sponsored by OmniSystems.com, an expert service provider in systems engineering, software development, and IT consulting. OmniSystems launched, hosts and maintains the nonprofit’s website.
Rebuild Dominica Inc volunteers continue to serve post-Hurricane Maria. These include Barbara Philip — daughter of former Police Chief O.N. Philip, Treasurer CPA Dave Winston, Cecil “BJ” Lockhart of Lockhart Insurance Services, and Chairwoman LaDàna Drigo. Rebuild Dominica Inc applauds the sacrifices made by George Mackert of Virginia who spent his Christmas holiday providing aid on-island in Dominica. The nonprofit also compliments its Medical Director Dr. Sam Christian, Associate Director Dr. Dale Dangleben, Chief Administrator Maj. Francis Richards and others for their efforts in bringing together resources and recruiting volunteers to help Dominica.
Additional supporters of Rebuild Dominica Inc include the Caribbean Agricultural Network, Above Prestige Public Relations and SPAGnVOLA Chocolat de la Dominique. Visit www.RebuildDominica.org for details on offering resources and support to Dominica.
